Staring into space, seated opposite my friend. The coolness of the evening made the environment so calm and lovely despite how busy it seemed with the population around.

I snapped out of my absence and looked at my friend who seemed to enjoy the moment more than I do. I smiled and casually asked him are you having a nice time?

His reply was just a smile but he asked me back a question “Are you not?”

A smile with mixed emotions hidden behind it displayed itself and not knowing what to say at the moment I just said it’s indeed quite a lovely evening. I love the view.

“Yes, it is. (Replied Den as he was looking at me then turned to look at the environment) But one thing that makes it beautiful apart from the nature and settings is the people around and the kind of relationship they share. It feels good to spend time with loved ones. (Smiling at me he asked) Don’t you think so?”

That’s what has taken me into the mood of deep thought. I was just thinking about life for a moment. Time is the one thing that has been allocated to all equally and it’s the one thing that keeps moving irrespective of who you are. Some make the most of it while others only spend it one-sided.

Den wondered what made it one-sided so I further explained to him. A one-sided kind of life is anything that takes almost all of your time. Other aspects of your life starve to exist because one has consumed the time. It has succeeded in suffocating every space they could get because it has pressed on them.

“But you know other things will take most of your time because of how they matter.” Says Den. 

Now that’s the word… “Which word?” Asked Den. MATTER - that word made it have most of the time because it mattered. (Den giggled) “Hold on T-man, what I mean by that matter is I’m not saying other things don't matter but it will take most of the time because of how necessary it is.”

I get what you’re saying but let me explain something here. When it comes to allocating time, there are other things or that one thing that will take the higher potion but the fact that it is leading doesn’t mean it will suffocate the rest. The rest will feel the impact and presence of that individual and will not struggle to survive because it is not neglected.

What brings the existence of a one-sided life is the neglect of another aspect. There’s room for having a balanced life it all depends on your views and values of life.

And sometimes those with the one-sided kind of life walk with a wish on the other hand. If only they could see that the changes have to come with what matters and how to allocate time to each appropriately they would find out their wish was possible.

“When did you think of all these?” Just now, because it’s a thing I’m partly guilty of. “Is that why you brought me out to spend some time?” No, I just felt one needs to do what he should because tomorrow might be too late.

So, if you want to care for someone do it now if you desire to reach out to someone do it now, if you like to care for someone do it, if you want to make an impact don’t wait for tomorrow. Just do it now.

The bottom line is trying to do things on time before the time allocated to them becomes late.

Doing something on time is more fulfilling and pleasurable than when it’s late. By then it must have lost the fire it carries. But still (Gave a brief smile at Den) it’s better to make up for the lost times than live in regret.

“Sure. (Looking around and observing other people) It feels nice to have a moment of union and peaceful experience.”

We both gave a half-suppressed laugh in agreement spending the rest of the evening chatting some more before bidding each other goodbye.
