We are free to say whatever we want to say, we are free to express ourselves.

Freedom of speech is something we enjoy and easy to do, but what matters is not the freedom to speak but your freedom after the speech.

When I say freedom after the speech I don't mean you ending up in a place where you will be confined but I'm talking about you. Being free with yourself - your conscience, your peace. I'm talking about your mind being at rest and your life being at a still.

You know, oftentimes we enjoy running our mouths about things we see or hear or feel. Most especially what we hear or feel and even what we see and know is the real deal is not a guarantee that we should run our mouths about it.

Issues come from what is being said. A thing can be heard and a thing can be perceived but once the mouth can control itself then a situation can be saved.

It is not everything that comes into your ears, or everything that your eyes see, or everything you perceive that your mouth must be a partner to.

Always partnering with your mouth on every single thing that passes your eyes, enters your ears, or has the feeling of is a dangerous business. A day will come when it will end up stealing that still life of yours or even rob you of a peaceful mind.

The mouth is meant for dishing out words and it feels good when it's doing its work but there is wisdom in knowing the limit and measure of what needs to be dished out.

Some people might say thank God I'm not talkative. This has nothing to do with whether you are talkative or not. It's about what comes out when the mouth opens to do its work.

Some can talk more than others but can be mindful of what comes out and some can be quiet and calm but end up not sieving what comes out from the mouth.

In that case, make the partnership with your mouth to be with your mind so you can think first before dishing out what your ears, eyes, and feelings have received.

It saves you from getting yourself entangled in some situation and it also saves your neck and your conscience.

Don't be carried away with the excitement of talking and forget your faculty of reasoning. let it both work hand in hand.

So, when you are enjoying your freedom of speech, always remember your freedom and life after that speech.
