On a faithful morning I sat in bed and the word Monday came to mind. I then asked myself this question… Why do the majority hate Monday? Monday has faced hatred and lots of hate speech as if it has done something terrible to humanity.

My first working experience apart from the experience I had during my youth service made me understand why Monday is being disliked by many. I didn't realize it until a while of being at home after the contractual work. Then I had ample time to think through so many things and do some calculations about life.

When I was working I got to dislike Monday, but when I’m not I don’t dislike Monday – as a matter of fact, I like Monday. So I asked myself why?

Answering myself this question made me understand the difference.

The work I was doing wasn’t something I love doing, neither what I dreamt of doing or was it something I’m meant to do. I was there because I needed a change of environment, because I needed to have a working experience in the real world aside youth service, because I wanted to be out there outside home and because I just want to know how it felt to be working.

At first I was happy I got what I wanted but as time went on it later became a case to me. But thank God it wasn’t a permanent one and in a few months’ time it ended. Thank goodness I learned a lot and had the experience I wanted. It would have been a heartbreak.

Monday hasn’t done anything to deserve all the hatred and hate speech it’s getting because it’s also a good day but people tend to say “oh! My life, it’s Monday again”, “oh! I hate Monday”, “why is it Monday? It’s too soon for it to come around” because what they do isn’t what they like doing or what they are destined to do or what they desire in life to do or due to the working experience they are facing.

We all have different reasons why we do what we do but why not be positive about Monday. Seeing it as a day to begin a step to a milestone you want to achieve, as another day to continue with the journey of becoming great or as another day to go out there to make a change or make an impact.

Monday is just a day to get hold of as an opportunity. Stay positive to it because you never know what good it might bring your way.
