We are like plain paper when we were born. It depends on how thick or light your paper is. It depends on the shape and size of the paper.
We all grow day by day. As time goes on, we developpe getting to know our environment and having knowledge of what the world is.
As designs are being made papers or as colors are painted on papers so also our lives are being made.
In our own case, we have different things that leave an imprint on us as life goes on and as we grow.
The family we come from is the first thing that leaves an imprint of itself – that is, where we started learning. Our family instills in us the basic knowledge of life and the world. It instills in us its own belief, its own culture and tradition most importantly its own social life – how you relate with people when you get out there, how to behave and how to view life in general.
The school we attend and the experience we get from there leave its own imprint on us. What it rubbed on us through the period of time we were engaged with it. All that we learn leaves its own effect on us.
The third thing is society. I will say society is the second biggest thing that has a larger part of its imprint on us though not in all cases and I’m tempted to say it’s fifty/fifty with family because that is your origin and where you started. It all depends on which one has a greater and lasting influence on you.
At this period of time not everyone leaves the complete imprint that his or her family has made on them because as they have started relating with another system they unlearn and relearn things. New experience comes up that changes some things about them.
Society leaves its own imprint as we relate with it and that is something we will keep relating to up to old age. Society will always be there and will keep changing. It will bring new things, new systems and will always want to leave an imprint of that on us.
So far so good what usually remains constant is the family – your genesis because even school systems change.
These three things I listed are things that we learn from, gain experience and express ourselves. They shape our lives and through that we get to define ourselves.
Most times the question that comes to you is not “where…?” but “are you…?” because they just want to be sure of the traits they see in you. It tells them your origin or the kind of person you are.
Despite the fact that I said the first and second largest thing that leaves an imprint on us is family then society might not always be the case but majorly is the case. It all depends on what you permit to make a lasting imprint on you.
Some, the family they come from have the largest imprint. Nothing you do can temper that. Some it is the society that has the largest space while some it is what the education instills in them that has the largest part.
Every imprint largely depends on you as an individual. Some are able to balance it all while most people it is the society that takes over the space on that paper making its own prints in all areas.
The question is, what is first seen in you? The family you come from or the education or the society.
All three have an imprint on us. Though not in all cases. But one thing for sure all three have the ability of shaping who we turn out to be but it’s all about choices.
