VALUE

“Yah!” He shouted from a distance. He was furious, pointing his index finger at her as a warning to stop what she was thinking of doing.

She gave him a mischievous look with a smirk as she held the relic with her right hand, and stretched it out to let loose for it to fall to pieces. She giggled a little and said, “This? Are you scared? Ha! Can’t believe this is all it takes to make you lose it all.”

He was scared to take any careless move lest it make her drop it off. He asked calmly, “What is it you want? Anything but that.”

With an interesting expression on her face, she exclaimed, “Wow! It’s amazing. I never knew you could be this calm and respectful.”

After pleading with her, she said, “Okay, no problem at all. I’ll drop it.”

Immediately after saying that, she sighed and let loose of the relic. His heart skipped a bit and froze. Everything became lifeless. Before it could reach the floor, she grabbed it with her left hand. She looked at him and smiled. Noticing how shocked he was, she burst into laughter. “Wow!... I can’t believe this. Hahaha, here you go.”

She handed it over to him. He collected it carefully with a graceful heart and embraced it.

He quickly went to put it back in its place on the shelf but took a look at her and gave it a second thought of not putting it there again lest such a scenario repeat itself and it might end in disappointment. So, he left her presence with it to place it in a safer position she could not easily reach.

The thing is, we all have something we value.

Some people don't even have a thing but their life.

The question here is, is that thing you place value on worth it? Is it worth any sacrifice you will make?

When valuing something, one has to be cautious lest we end up valuing what is not precious but an illusion (holding value to what is not valuable).
